The ghostly commercial narrowboat of yesterday gives birth to the canals as we know them today. Canals and rivers are coloured to denote type of navigation and include a mention of the Ribble Link and the Anderton Lift.  Towns and Cities are listed.  Around the perimeter of the design are the names of people and boats who have been connected with the waterways such as, The Duke of Bridgewater, Joe and Rosie Skinner and  'Friendship', L.T.C.Rolt etc.  Inside are the flora and fauna associated with the waterways.
